podcast: FAT PLANET: AMON TOBIN INTERVIEW (january 2007)

march 10th sees the australian release of brazilian amon tobin‘s latest studio album ‘the foley room’.¨Ü as the title suggests, tobin has developed his sample sources beyond his traditional use of vinyl into ‘found’ and ‘constructed’ sounds.¨Ü it’s a huge testament to tobin that the results remain defiantly accessible, and – unlike herbert‘s similar ‘plate de jour’ project – never fall into the realms of abstract sound art.¨Ü the album, release through ninja tune, comes with a dvd that documents the painstaking processes tobin undertook inthe construction of this record.
